I have no idea how this would be useful. Buffer times, connection loss, no WiFi around, these are all problems that will prevent this from working.

Well, a 3G connection is more or less the same as wifi, although its quite unstable.
3G in the UK is quite good in my opinion. I'll wait for the networks to come up with unlimited plans as they have been a bitch all these times.

Considering that, when the iPhone was first announced, Jobs stated he would be happy with a 1% share of the market, Apple isn't doing too badly. If MS gets their act together with the Windows phone, I can see it getting a larger share. I guess how big a share depends on how Apple and Google respond with their own innovations.

How does streaming music to my iPhone help me, when O2 cap my Internet usage, and then charge when you use more.

yes, new imac's will come, but sadly the will probably come without:
1- Matte screen option (Isn't there an aftermarket for this?)
2- USB 3 (Nah)
3- Blu-Ray (Not a chance: BluRay is in a body bag waiting to be zipped in about 3 or 4 years)

Doesn't matter if it has been opened. I bought an iMac right before the new ones came out, it was bto with the upc cut out and sent in for the free iPod offer. They gave a FULL refund with no restocking fee, even I made sure they knew it was opened with the upc cut off. This policy is different than their normal return policy.

So, the video streaming to TV device... how likely do you all think it is that they'll let you stream your own video through it? If I could stream my totally legally sourced DivX movies (ahem) through it that would be awesome beyond words!

Now, if it's simply an updated Airport Express that now allows you to stream movies but you still have to use your computer do send the files through (AirTunes) then I'll pass. I really don't think they would do it this way though, or at least I hope not.

Well, based on past experience here - no matter what is announced, there will be people on this forum complaining that it isn't enough. :p We'll have to wait and see how it (whatever "it" is) plays in Peoria over time.
Personally I'm hoping for the AV streaming device; and if it ties in with my Tivo that'll be a big plus. :D

That'd be very nice, but I think that's too niche for Apple to get into. Although Apple does take its photography seriously, it only really produces hardware that is versatile and can be used for many different tasks - i.e. although the Mac Pro is serious photograhpy equipment, it can also be serious movie editing or CAD equipment. Infact, I can't think of any hardware made by Apple that is specifically photography directed.
Then again, there's nothing to say they won't break the habit of a lifetime.
While I have nothing to back up this idea beyond wild speculation, it makes sense if you think about it for a while.
I used the name "Aperture.iPod" just for this thread. I think the APerture features would be targeted to special audience, but even the Photo uploading features (plus integration into iPhoto) would give it the broader appeal you correctly discuss.

Apple's official knowledge-base article still states that h264-encoded movies must be 320 x 240 at 30 fps."
So why will Apple start selling a video size that isn't designed for the current iPod? While it could be for the "iTV" device, I'd image that is a bit too small a resolution to get people excited about. And even if it is, why start selling it 6 months before the device ships?

If Apple was to introduce a new Video iPod with a larger screen, this new larger box would allow a number of things that can''t fit on a small iPod and are perfect for both video AND photography - a large 640 x 480 screen, FW or USB2 connections, and potentially CF/SD card slots (or at least an IO for a fast adapter via the USB2 connection.)
Hence my conclusion (based on pure speculation) - all these things point to a dual use device. Handheld, but larger than normal iPods, and suitable for both consumer video playback AND photography.
What better place to introduce this than the biggest consumer photo show in the world?

Microsoft doesn't really play in the consumer / gadget / toy market, which simply means that you don't get to see most of their products unless you work in a corporate data center. And unlike Apple, Microsoft -has- data center / server products that people WANT to use and that are years ahead of the pack (Sharepoint Portal Server, Exchange Server, SQL Server, Terminal Services, just to name a few) - and a LOT of their RD goes there.
This sounds like "sour grapes."
Also, nobody here should kid themselves - Microsoft still OWNS the desktop and office suite markets. Around a BILLION computers run their software, and even most Macs are dead in the water without Microsoft Office and/or Microsoft Windows (in Boot Camp, Parallels, Fusion, VirtualBox).

So Apple was more profitable in the last quarter. Big deal. Maybe the guys at Microsoft have higher salaries and more vacation. Maybe Ballmer put more money into RD and marketing than in the last quarter. Maybe they bought more startups than before.

CHULA VISTA � One man was killed and two others were arrested early Monday after a shootout with a security guard at a Chula Vista Apple Store.
Police said the trio broke into the store at the Otay Ranch Town Center on Birch Road just before 7 a.m., said police Capt. Gary Ficacci.
The security guard told officers he was in his vehicle outside the business when he saw two men and a woman smash the store's front windows, Ficacci said. The store manager was inside.
The guard confronted them and at least one of the men took out a handgun and threatened him, and a gun battle ensued, Ficacci said.
The trio then got into a small car and started to drive away but the male driver was mortally wounded and the car crashed into a light pole.
The other man and the woman got out of the car and ran. They were found about 8 a.m. hiding on a patio in a residential neighborhood across the street, Ficacci said.
Nearby schools were locked down as a precaution, but those restrictions have been lifted.
The eastern portion of the mall remains closed because of the investigation.
Police were still sorting out the details and have not said how many shots were fired. One gun was found on the dead man. Another was found on the man taken into custody.
The names of those involved have not been released. The security guard and the store manager were not harmed, police said.

According to certain sources it says Apple retail store are staying through the night to change out advertisements and such.
I don't understand why they would make a big deal about this unless they were releasing a major update such as a product re-design or big change. When has a spec update caused retail stores to have people work through the night?

Seems unfair to kill someone for robbery. Yes they're breaking the law, but only deserve a prison sentence. Do you really really think someone should be shot and killed for attempting to steal a few laptops and smash a few windows? If you do then man you have issues.

The real question is why MS is so bothered about Apple using 'App Store'. Historically MS (almost) never used the word App, instead using the word Programs. Surely MS can come up with many alternatives that describe their own store equally well, if not better. Why fight with Apple over this? I can only conclude that it is to spite Apple, or to ride Apple's coat tails yet again.
Even if MS is right, logically, linguistically, I find their attitude over this rather puerile. PR-wise it says to me "Apple, if we can't imitate you, we'll sue you"

Surely they wouldn't have a whole invite just for an MBP update either? Although this board seems obsessed with Merom MBP's, replacing a chip in a laptop really isn't that exciting.
